| books and cheese make my world go 'round |

I tried to go out this evening and NOT spend money. As usual, I failed.
Once again, I go to Powell's for a reading, only to be turned away at the door. So much for hearing Michael Chabon hawk his goods. I'll try to get there much earlier tomorrow night, because you know everyone in town will want to see Terri Jentz's ax wounds.
Since I was there, I did some shopping at Powell's. I bought:
Oh, Play That Thing by Roddy Doyle (remainder)
A Boy of Good Breeding by Miriam Toews (remainder)
Lenny Bruce is Dead by Jonathan Goldstein (remainder)
Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg (used)
There goes $25.89.
I try to avoid paying for parking as much as possible. Since I parked at Whole Foods, I had to go buy $10 worth of food so they would validate my ticket stub. I bought a hunk of Sheep Manchego cheese (aged 12 months) and a single portion of Mac and Cheese from their food bar, which totaled $10.18.
So I spent money I didn't have on shit I probably didn't need. But, then again, if I can't blow money on books and cheese every now and then, then I really don't want to live this life. |
